2012 World MAKE awards

I'm busy with work (yay!), which has me not getting much time for reading and writing interesting things.  Happily, I get news like this from time to time.

Teleos and the KNOW Network have announced 2012 World's Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises:

[Date Added : 11/28/2012 ] Teleos, in association with The KNOW Network, has announced the Winners of the 2012 Global Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) study. This year's Global MAKE Winners are (in alphabetical order):

  • Accenture
  • Amazon.com
  • Apple
  • ConocoPhillips
  • Deloitte
  • Ernst & Young
  • Facebook
  • Fluor
  • Google
  • IBM
  • Microsoft
  • POSCO
  • PwC
  • Samsung
  • SAS Institute
  • Schlumberger
  • Siemens
  • Tata
  • Toyota
  • Wipro Technologies

Apple has been recognized as the 2012 Overall Global MAKE Winner.

Congratulations to Apple, and to all the companies selected by the participants and award committee.  Nearly all the names in the list are pretty familiar - expect for POSCO, the steel-making company.  They have a nice overview article on their website on POSCO KM Mode, describing how KM has developed within POSCO over the last ten years.

I read through the article and see very strong signs of a clear connection to continuous improvement and ongoing learning.  This is right in line with my current thinking about KM being a key element of learning organizations.
