There are plenty of job descriptions that make you scratch your head, wondering what they are really looking to hire. The classic is the job requirements for "good at multitasking" when that can be exactly the wrong trait. I came across one that throws Theory of Constraints and cost reductions into the same set of requirements.
I came across a faculty opening at Kent State in their Information Architecture and Knowledge Management (IAKM) program. They are primarily looking for someone who does information architecture and / or usability work, rather than people invested in the Knowledge Management side.
One of the big ideas for me in a personal approach to knowledge management is that I get to consider what's important for me and how I want to manage and use it. I get to look at my skills and preferences and consider how this fits with where I am in life, so why not apply this to the job search process.
Well, if I can't find a fulltime gig somewhere, I can always become a bookstore employee, according to the "Are You a Librarian Test."
